Nanjing Watch Factory

Nanjing Watch Factory is a watch factory located in Nanjing in Jiangsu province . It was established in 1955 or 1956 and was known by a range of names before becoming the Nanjing Watch Factory in 1971. It is best known for its Zhongshan brand watches.

10 Nanjing workshops were amlagamated to form Jiangnan Clock Factory, produced alarm clocks. In 1957 the factory moved to a new location (Zhongshan Square at Zijinshan), renamed Zijinshan Clock and Watch Factory,

From 1958 to 1960, in addition to clocks produced watches under the brand Qiyi .

From 1959 to 1960, the factory produced watches under the brand Zijinshan , using a copy of the Roamer 372 movement and then the SN1 movement.

From 1968 to 1990, the factory produced watches under the brand Zhongshan , using the SN2 movement. SN2 is low-cost, low-grade, but still accurate. Very durable, power reserve 48 hours, often more than 50 hours.

The factory has also produced watches using the SN3 and SN4 movements.

In its later years, many watches were exported to Russia and Africa. Factory was closed in the middle of the first decade of the 21st century.
